{"id":965,"date":"2010-05-29T17:11:21","date_gmt":"2010-05-29T17:11:21","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-14T22:32:23","modified_gmt":"2017-12-14T22:32:23","slug":"worked-on-firewall-components","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2010\/05\/29\/worked-on-firewall-components\/","title":{"rendered":"Worked on Firewall Components"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I needed to install a bunch of things on the firewall before hanging the engine. \u00a0Since the engine mount hadn&#8217;t been torqued to the firewall yet, I pulled it with the gear still attached to give me better access.<\/p>\n<p>I laid out the ANL current limiter and shunt and drilled mounting holes through the firewall.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100529\/CIMG1598.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1598.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Then I laid out for nutplates and some extra rivets to tie the doubler to the firewall. \u00a0The nutplate on the right (at an angle) ties the shunt into the firewall reinforcement angle.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100529\/CIMG1599.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1599.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I also laid out for the fuel pass through and installed the throttle cable pass through. \u00a0As with other firewall penetrations, this is all steel, \u00a0It can also swivel up to 50\u00ba to accommodate cables that have to penetrate the firewall other than orthogonally.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100529\/CIMG1600.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1600.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I then drilled out for the fuel pass through and some rivets for the doubler.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100529\/CIMG1604.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1604.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I replaced the AN3C bolts holding the parking brake on with some flush head stainless steel screws. \u00a0Where there is nothing attaching on the forward side of the firewall, I&#8217;m trying to keep everything flush so the firewall is easier to keep clean. \u00a0I still need to install the rivets in the doubler, but it&#8217;s too late to make noise tonight. \u00a0I also installed the pass-throughs for the mixture and prop cables.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100529\/CIMG1601.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1601.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Since the parking brake is in for good now, I installed and torqued rigid lines connecting the parking brake to the firewall pass-throughs. \u00a0It looks like the line on the right is touching the right cable pass through, but there&#8217;s plenty of clearance.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100529\/CIMG1602.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1602.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I needed to install a bunch of things on the firewall before hanging the engine. \u00a0Since the engine mount hadn&#8217;t been torqued to the firewall yet, I pulled it with the gear still attached to give me better access.
