{"id":941,"date":"2010-07-04T17:11:20","date_gmt":"2010-07-04T17:11:20","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-05T07:09:23","modified_gmt":"2017-12-05T07:09:23","slug":"finished-drilling-cabin-frame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2010\/07\/04\/finished-drilling-cabin-frame\/","title":{"rendered":"Finished Drilling Cabin Frame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I fit the forward channels and filed the ends to ensure the center seam was tight.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100704\/IMG_8684.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8684.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I then transferred the lower hole locations to the upper channels.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100704\/IMG_8686.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8686.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I then fabricated some spacers out of scrap 2x2s that were sanded down to 1.375&#8243; thick. \u00a0Since I&#8217;m fabricating the cabin frame flat on my bench, I used some scrap 1x2s and long screws to clamp the cabin frame down tight to the bench.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100704\/IMG_8687.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8687.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a closeup showing how the scrap wood is screwed directly to the bench. \u00a0These are positioned directly over the internal spacers. \u00a0This keeps the cabin frame thickness exactly 1.5&#8243;.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100704\/IMG_8688.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8688.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Finally, the top channel was drilled.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100704\/IMG_8689.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8689.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I then positioned the forward splice place and match drilled the channels to it. \u00a0This will eventually be installed on the inside of the channel.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100704\/IMG_8690.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8690.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Now that everything was positioned and drilled, I went back through and enlarged all holes to #30.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100704\/IMG_8691.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8691.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>While I was doing that, Andre stopped by and fabricated a number of the attach angles. \u00a0These are used to attach the cabin frame to the fuselage.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100704\/IMG_8692.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8692.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I fit the forward channels and filed the ends to ensure the center seam was tight.
