{"id":904,"date":"2010-09-01T17:11:20","date_gmt":"2010-09-01T17:11:20","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-06T05:09:46","modified_gmt":"2017-12-06T05:09:46","slug":"prepped-for-big-cut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2010\/09\/01\/prepped-for-big-cut\/","title":{"rendered":"Prepped for Big Cut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I finished yesterday with a couple of minor gaps around the front of the canopy. \u00a0I got started tonight by laying out a curve along the front edge from the gap peak to gap peak. \u00a0A few minutes with the cutoff wheel removed the scraps.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100901\/IMG_8864.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8864.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The canopy fits much better now. \u00a0There&#8217;s still about a 1\/16&#8243; gap in the center, but this is good enough to do the &#8220;big cut.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100901\/IMG_8865.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8865.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I taped the canopy down to prevent it from shifting.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100901\/IMG_8866.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8866.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>You can sort of see here that there&#8217;s less than 1\/2&#8243; of space between the canopy and cabin frame. \u00a0From what I understand, this is better than most builders achieve.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100901\/IMG_8867.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8867.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I then laid a few pieces of wide masking tape along both sides of the cut line. \u00a0The theory is that this will help guide the cutoff wheel, but I&#8217;m dubious of this since the cutoff wheel basically cuts anything the moment it touches it.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100901\/IMG_8869.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8869.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Finally, I transferred the canopy to the bench and screwed down some blocks to stabilize the two halves prior to cutting it in two. \u00a0It&#8217;s too late to do this tonight, but I&#8217;ll try to knock it out first thing in the morning.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100901\/IMG_8870.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_8870.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I finished yesterday with a couple of minor gaps around the front of the canopy. \u00a0I got started tonight by laying out a curve along the front edge from the gap peak to gap peak. \u00a0A few minutes with the cutoff wheel removed the scraps.
