{"id":832,"date":"2011-03-26T17:07:56","date_gmt":"2011-03-26T17:07:56","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-08T04:42:18","modified_gmt":"2017-12-08T04:42:18","slug":"20110326","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2011\/03\/26\/20110326\/","title":{"rendered":"Lots of Random Tasks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I zip-tied the EGT and CHT wires to the ignition wires on both sides. \u00a0These are just temporary, but I need to get the wires in their final positions so that I can begin cutting things to length.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9197.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9197.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I then installed the 1\/4&#8243; nipples into the EI FT-60 (colloquially known as the &#8220;red cube&#8221;). \u00a0This will be mounted between the fuel injection servo and the spider and will measure the fuel that&#8217;s being delivered to the engine.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9198.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9198.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s roughly where it will be installed. \u00a0I will need a 2 3\/4&#8243; hose that connects the fuel servo to the input side of the red cube. \u00a0Hopefully Bonaco can make one this short.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9199.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9199.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The output side of the cube has a 90\u00ba elbow that points directly at the inner end of the right-side inter-cylinder baffle. \u00a0I&#8217;ll drill a hole through there to pass the hose that connects the red cube to the spider.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9201.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9201.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I also removed, re-lubed, and reinstalled the fitting in the spider so that it points straight down. \u00a0The shiny area between the cylinders is the inner cylinder baffle where the hole will be drilled.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9202.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9202.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I removed the right side inter-cylinder baffle so that I could drill the hole.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9203.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9203.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I drilled a 13\/16&#8243; hole&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9205.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9205.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;that will hold a grommet that has a 1\/2&#8243; interior hole. \u00a0That is roughly the outside diameter of a 1\/4&#8243; hose with firesleeve. \u00a0I&#8217;ll have to install the grommet over the hose before installing it in the hole, but I wanted to make sure it fits properly.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9206.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9206.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I stopped by OSH and picked up some #10 brass hardware and installed the SkyView ADAHRS. \u00a0The ADAHRS contains a magnetometer, so there can&#8217;t be any ferrous metal near it so that it can get an accurate heading reference.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9207.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9207.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I crawled back in the tailcone (hopefully for the last time) to install the static tubing from the tee on F-708 (near the bottom of the picture) through F-707 and into the front of the ADAHRS. \u00a0There is a tee installed here because the static line will also run forward to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trutrakap.com\/\">TruTrak<\/a> Gemini that I&#8217;m using as a backup EFIS.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9208.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9208.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>One of the things I got in my last order from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bandc.biz\/index.aspx\">B&amp;C<\/a> is the alternator field connector. \u00a0I installed a jumper between the terminals and added some heat shrink.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9209.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9209.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I added a couple of extra pieces to build up the thickness of the single wire.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9210.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9210.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Then installed a larger piece of heat shrink over the whole thing.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9211.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9211.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s where it connects to the back of the alternator.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9212.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9212.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The wire will likely run along the alternator b lead along with the wires for the fuel flow sensor.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110326\/IMG_9213.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9213.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I zip-tied the EGT and CHT wires to the ignition wires on both sides. \u00a0These are just temporary, but I need to get the wires in their final positions so that I can begin cutting things to length.
