{"id":819,"date":"2011-04-10T17:07:56","date_gmt":"2011-04-10T17:07:56","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-08T06:00:32","modified_gmt":"2017-12-08T06:00:32","slug":"fabricated-fuel-line-between-p","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2011\/04\/10\/fabricated-fuel-line-between-p\/","title":{"rendered":"Fabricated Fuel Line Between Pump and Firewall and Worked on Covers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I fabricated the fuel line that runs between the fuel pump and the firewall. \u00a0I had previously fabricated this line, but that was for the old pump position and that line would no longer work. \u00a0Despite the pump being farther back, this line is shorter because it takes a more direct route.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110410\/IMG_9358.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9358.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The line steps down immediately after leaving the pump to go under the cover and then bends slightly to the right to head directly to the firewall penetration.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110410\/IMG_9359.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9359.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I cut away a good chunk of the cover so that it can drop in over the pump. \u00a0This is so much better than old way I was installing this. \u00a0That would have required removing the pump to access the wiring bundle. \u00a0I bent a flange in the forward end of the cutout to stiffen the cover in this spot.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110410\/IMG_9355.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9355.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The line just touched the forward end of the cutout, so I used my Dremel and sanded away a relief. \u00a0There is about 1\/4&#8243; of clearance around the line now and nothing can flex that far. \u00a0I might still add some silicone wrap here though.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110410\/IMG_9356.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9356.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what it looks like with all of the covers in place. \u00a0With everything in its final position, I drilled the cover to the holes that were already in the floor stiffeners<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110410\/IMG_9357.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9357.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I pulled everything apart to install nutplates and prep everything for final assembly. \u00a0While I had the fuel selector mounting plate off the plane, I countersunk all of the screw holes. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t realize until after doing this that the three holes near the fuel selector didn&#8217;t need to be countersunk since there is a cover plate that mounts over this. \u00a0It won&#8217;t matter though since these will be hidden under that plate.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110410\/IMG_9360.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9360.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I fabricated the fuel line that runs between the fuel pump and the firewall. \u00a0I had previously fabricated this line, but that was for the old pump position and that line would no longer work. \u00a0Despite the pump being farther back, this line is shorter because it takes a more direct route.
