{"id":818,"date":"2011-04-11T17:07:56","date_gmt":"2011-04-11T17:07:56","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-08T06:02:08","modified_gmt":"2017-12-08T06:02:08","slug":"fuel-pump-and-covers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2011\/04\/11\/fuel-pump-and-covers\/","title":{"rendered":"Fuel Pump and Covers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I riveted the pump cover to the fuel selector cover. \u00a0Some people use screws to attach these, but I can&#8217;t see why you&#8217;d ever care to remove one without the other and rivets are simpler and lighter.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110411\/IMG_9361.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9361.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a little hard to see what this is, but it&#8217;s a picture of the inside of the two pieces above. \u00a0I cut away most of the front of the fuel selector cover since the extra metal inside here served no purpose.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110411\/IMG_9362.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9362.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I also installed nutplates on the forward cover. \u00a0These allow the forward cover to be attached to the floor stiffeners as well as allowing the pump cover to be attached to the forward cover.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110411\/IMG_9363.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9363.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I cleaned the floor well and attached some adhesive tie-wrap mounts.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110411\/IMG_9364.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9364.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>This is a closeup of the tie-wrap mounts.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110411\/IMG_9366.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9366.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I added loose tie-wraps to all of the mounts and then ran wires for the fuel pump.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110411\/IMG_9369.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9369.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The ground wire attaches to the firewall ground block and the power wire connects to the VP-X. \u00a0I&#8217;m <b>really<\/b>\u00a0liking wiring with the VP-X since it allows you to do all of the wiring without having to have the panel design done or in the plane. \u00a0Once the panel is cut, I just need to run a sense line from the VP-X up to the switch and then the fuel pump wiring is done.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20110411\/IMG_9372.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_9372.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I riveted the pump cover to the fuel selector cover. \u00a0Some people use screws to attach these, but I can&#8217;t see why you&#8217;d ever care to remove one without the other and rivets are simpler and lighter.
