{"id":692,"date":"2011-11-12T17:04:29","date_gmt":"2011-11-12T17:04:29","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-10T21:10:22","modified_gmt":"2017-12-10T21:10:22","slug":"rigged-elevators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2011\/11\/12\/rigged-elevators\/","title":{"rendered":"Rigged Elevators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I finished drilling the aft deck and longerons to the elevator up stop.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111112\/IMG_0015.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0015.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I also finished drilling\/reaming the forward vertical stabilizer support bracket to the forward spar of the horizontal stabilizer.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111112\/IMG_0016.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0016.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The elevator down stop needed quite a bit of material removed to achieve the recommended amount of deflection.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111112\/IMG_0018.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0018.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>With the up stop manufactured to plans, I get 31.1\u00ba of upward deflection (25\u00ba-30\u00ba is the specified range). \u00a0It looks like a number of builders have ended up with slightly more than the 30\u00ba limit.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111112\/IMG_0019.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0019.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>With the adjusted down stop, I can reach 24\u00ba deflection from neutral (20\u00ba-25\u00ba is the specified range). \u00a0Since I plan on doing quite a bit of acro, I wanted to get near the upper limit.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111112\/IMG_0021.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0021.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Afterward, I adjusted all of the elevator pushrods to length and torqued the jam nuts.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111112\/IMG_0022.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0022.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I had to lengthen the servo pushrod from 6&#8243; to 6 3\/16&#8243; center to center to put it at 90\u00ba to the servo arm when the elevators are neutral. \u00a0I also took the opportunity to prime the servo pushrod and torque everything down. \u00a0I still have the forward elevator pushrod to do and the final bellcrank connections to install\/torque.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111112\/IMG_0023.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0023.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I finished drilling the aft deck and longerons to the elevator up stop.
