{"id":667,"date":"2011-12-18T17:00:59","date_gmt":"2011-12-18T17:00:59","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-10T21:49:57","modified_gmt":"2017-12-10T21:49:57","slug":"worked-on-wings-and-oil-cooler","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2011\/12\/18\/worked-on-wings-and-oil-cooler\/","title":{"rendered":"Worked on Wings and Oil Cooler Plenum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I finally riveted on the flap hinge. \u00a0This has been on my to do list for weeks now, but the wings are mostly stored under a tarp beside my house, so I have to pull them around to the driveway every time I want to work on them.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111218\/IMG_0105.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0105.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I also made a little more progress on the hinges that will be used to attach the wing tips. \u00a0I taped a couple of the spacers to the hinge and then clamped it to the wing skin.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111218\/IMG_0106.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0106.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>After drilling, deburring, dimpling, and countersinking, I riveted it on. \u00a0Notice that the wing side of the hinge starts with an eyelet at the trailing edge. \u00a0This is so that the hinge pin can be pre-loaded on the wing so that it&#8217;s ready to go when the wingtip is set in place.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111218\/IMG_0107.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0107.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I also pulled the oil cooler plenum out of the mold (well, mostly pulled the mold out of the oil cooler plenum) and then test fit it. \u00a0It looks like it fits pretty well, but I&#8217;ll have to do a little adjustment. \u00a0As I suspected, it&#8217;s also <b>way<\/b>\u00a0too flimsy right now due to the lightweight cloth I had on hand. \u00a0I have some 9oz cloth on order. \u00a0A few more plys of that should stiffen this up nicely.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111218\/IMG_0108.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0108.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a shot down the inside. \u00a0With the butterfly valve open, the air will have a nice clean shot at the oil cooler fins.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111218\/IMG_0110.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0110.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I finally riveted on the flap hinge. \u00a0This has been on my to do list for weeks now, but the wings are mostly stored under a tarp beside my house, so I have to pull them around to the driveway every time I want to work on them.
