{"id":659,"date":"2011-12-29T17:00:59","date_gmt":"2011-12-29T17:00:59","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-10T22:00:44","modified_gmt":"2017-12-10T22:00:44","slug":"installed-remaining-firewallfo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2011\/12\/29\/installed-remaining-firewallfo\/","title":{"rendered":"Installed Remaining Firewall-Forward Hoses and Finish Baffle Modifications for ECI Tapered Cylinders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My hopefully final hose order arrived from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonacoinc.com\/\">Bonaco<\/a> today. \u00a0First up is the upper hose to the oil cooler. \u00a0This comes straight off the back of the engine above the left mag. \u00a0I&#8217;ll add a couple of adel clamps to tie the oil hose to the breather tube. \u00a0This will keep the hose from rubbing against the breather tube as well as stabilize the breather tube a bit better.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111229\/IMG_0135.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0135.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>That hose runs just inside the forward engine mount tubes and connects to the upper oil cooler port. \u00a0I&#8217;ll add another adel clamp here to secure the oil hose to the engine mount.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111229\/IMG_0136.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0136.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The lower oil cooler hose routes around the back of the oil cooler and then connects to the 45\u00ba angle fitting above the propeller governor. \u00a0I&#8217;ll cut a relief in the oil cooler flange to keep this from abrading against the hose. \u00a0I may also add an adel clap to tie the hose to the firewall.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111229\/IMG_0137.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0137.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I also replaced the fuel pressure hose with one that has a 90\u00ba end on it to better clear the oil cooler. \u00a0I&#8217;ll also have to trim the oil cooler flange here to clear the hose.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111229\/IMG_0139.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0139.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>After installing the hoses, I finished up the baffle mods. \u00a0Here&#8217;s the modification for the #1 cylinder.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111229\/IMG_0140.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0140.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>And here&#8217;s the mod for the #3 cylinder. \u00a0Overall, these really weren&#8217;t that bad to make. \u00a0I probably spent 6-8 hours total fabricating and installing these. \u00a0I&#8217;d definitely recommend ditching the plans from ECI and just making your own templates. \u00a0You&#8217;ll have to do that anyway for cylinder #4, and it&#8217;s pretty quick to just do it all the way around. \u00a0I also highly recommend making them in two pieces and riveting them together with the single rivet in the corner. \u00a0This is much easier than trying to get all of the angles exactly right with the single piece that ECI specifies.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20111229\/IMG_0141.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0141.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My hopefully final hose order arrived from Bonaco today. \u00a0First up is the upper hose to the oil cooler. \u00a0This comes straight off the back of the engine above the left mag. \u00a0I&#8217;ll add a couple of adel clamps to tie the oil hose to the breather tube. \u00a0This will keep the hose from rubbing &hellip;
