{"id":557,"date":"2012-10-24T16:57:32","date_gmt":"2012-10-24T16:57:32","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-17T19:15:40","modified_gmt":"2017-12-17T19:15:40","slug":"mounted-oil-cooler","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2012\/10\/24\/mounted-oil-cooler\/","title":{"rendered":"Mounted Oil Cooler"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I mounted the oil cooler tonight. \u00a0This was a <b>major<\/b>\u00a0pain in the ass. \u00a0There is very little room back here to get your hands and there are a bunch of parts to get aligned.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121024\/IMG_0526.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0526.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>There is about 1\/4&#8243; of clearance between the bottom of the oil cooler and the engine mount.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121024\/IMG_0527.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0527.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>Here&#8217;s the left side of the oil cooler. \u00a0You can see the aluminum tube spacers that let the AN3-41A bolts clamp both the front and back flanges. \u00a0You can also see that there are washers between the spacers and the oil cooler flanges to prevent the spacers from cutting into the flanges. \u00a0You can also see that the lower oil line snakes around behind the oil cooler through a cutout in the flange. \u00a0I&#8217;ll add some RTV here to prevent the flange from cutting into the line.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121024\/IMG_0528.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0528.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>Here&#8217;s the other side of the oil cooler. \u00a0I added another adel clamp at the bottom to keep the mixture cable and lower left ignition wires away from the engine mount. \u00a0I&#8217;ll have to do something similar to keep them away from the rear oil cooler flange.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121024\/IMG_0529.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0529.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>I think this is how I&#8217;m going to route the cable to control the oil cooler butterfly valve. \u00a0This not only keeps the cable and control arm away from the cowl, but will help keep them from getting caught when working on the engine. \u00a0I&#8217;ll need to fabricate a longer control arm and ensure it doesn&#8217;t interfere with the scat tubing.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121024\/IMG_0532.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0532-2.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I mounted the oil cooler tonight. \u00a0This was a major\u00a0pain in the ass. \u00a0There is very little room back here to get your hands and there are a bunch of parts to get aligned.
