{"id":553,"date":"2012-10-28T16:57:32","date_gmt":"2012-10-28T16:57:32","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-12T07:08:52","modified_gmt":"2017-12-12T07:08:52","slug":"finished-oil-cooler-installati","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2012\/10\/28\/finished-oil-cooler-installati\/","title":{"rendered":"Finished Oil Cooler Installation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the epoxy cured on the oil cooler SCAT tube flange, I reinstalled the baffles to test fit the SCAT tube.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121028\/IMG_0540.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0540.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>As you can see, the SCAT tube is well inside the cowling. \u00a0I should have at least 1\/2&#8243; of clearance.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121028\/IMG_0541.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0541.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>I fabricated a longer control arm and then anchored the control cable to the nearby engine mount tube.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121028\/IMG_0543.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0543.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>Here&#8217;s the control arm I fabricated. \u00a0I cut it from some 1\/4&#8243; stock and machined it down to 3\/16&#8243; thick and notched the closed end for the b-nut. \u00a0The far end has a 1\/4&#8243; hole and a slot so that it can be clamped to the rod.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121028\/IMG_0542.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0542.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>The longer arm gives me about 2&#8243; of throw on the cockpit control which should give me plenty of precision for fine tuning the oil temperature<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121028\/IMG_0545.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0545.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>Here&#8217;s what the butterfly valve looks like when the control cable is pushed all the way in. \u00a0I&#8217;ll trim and bend the end of the control cable when I&#8217;m sure it&#8217;s on for good.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121028\/IMG_0546.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0546.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>With the SCAT tube back in place, there&#8217;s plenty of clearance in the full open position.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121028\/IMG_0547.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0547.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>&#8230;and in the full closed position.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121028\/IMG_0548.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0548.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>In the middle, there&#8217;s about 1\/4&#8243; of clearance between the control arm and the SCAT tube. \u00a0I might end up adding a bend in the control arm to increase this a bit.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20121028\/IMG_0549.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_0549.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the epoxy cured on the oil cooler SCAT tube flange, I reinstalled the baffles to test fit the SCAT tube.
