{"id":1178,"date":"2009-09-15T17:18:14","date_gmt":"2009-09-15T17:18:14","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-02T18:56:04","modified_gmt":"2017-12-02T18:56:04","slug":"drilled-left-aileron","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2009\/09\/15\/drilled-left-aileron\/","title":{"rendered":"Drilled Left Aileron"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I clecoed the left aileron completely together in preparation for match drilling.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20090915\/CIMG0525.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0525.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>The aileron counterweight is a galvanized iron pipe that runs the whole length of the aileron. \u00a0This has to be drilled to #30 for countersunk blind rivets.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20090916\/CIMG0526.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0526.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>The entire bottom of the spar (with the exception of the outboard two rivets) also has to be drilled to #30 for blind rivets because there is no way to reach inside and buck these.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20090916\/CIMG0528.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0528.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>There is also a hole that attaches the counterweight pipe to the nose ribs so that the pipe can&#8217;t rotate. \u00a0This can be reached through one of the #30 holes in the spar after the trailing edge skin has been removed.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20090916\/CIMG0527.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0527.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I clecoed the left aileron completely together in preparation for match drilling.
