{"id":1148,"date":"2009-10-16T17:18:13","date_gmt":"2009-10-16T17:18:13","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-03T07:40:05","modified_gmt":"2017-12-03T07:40:05","slug":"finished-ailerons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2009\/10\/16\/finished-ailerons\/","title":{"rendered":"Finished Ailerons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I moved the ailerons to the kitchen since our granite countertops are the flattest surface in our house. \u00a0I weighted them down with some books.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091017\/CIMG0660.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0660.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I set the pop rivets in the counterbalance weight wet since these are aluminum rivets holding on a galvanized steel pipe.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091017\/CIMG0661.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0661.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>These are pop riveted on first.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091017\/CIMG0662.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0662.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Then the nose rib rivets are set, followed by the rivets on the main ribs. \u00a0Finally, blind rivets are used to fasten the nose and trailing edge skins to the bottom of the spar.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091017\/CIMG0663.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0663.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>After everything is riveted on, the hinge brackets can be bolted to the spar. \u00a0I&#8217;ve added some torque seal so that I can confirm these bolts are still tight during preflights.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091017\/CIMG0664.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0664.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The outer bolts get torque seal on the nut side. \u00a0The bolt above with torque seal threads into a nutplate on the other side of this rib.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091017\/CIMG0665.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0665.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I moved the ailerons to the kitchen since our granite countertops are the flattest surface in our house. \u00a0I weighted them down with some books.
