{"id":1116,"date":"2009-11-25T17:18:13","date_gmt":"2009-11-25T17:18:13","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-04T04:14:44","modified_gmt":"2017-12-04T04:14:44","slug":"finished-bulkhead-fabrication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2009\/11\/25\/finished-bulkhead-fabrication\/","title":{"rendered":"Finished Bulkhead Fabrication"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had the day off work, so my buddy Andre dropped by and we got started on the F-706 bulkhead. \u00a0First up is to drill some 0.063&#8243; angle to a couple of support ribs. \u00a0Here is the rib that goes from the back of F-706 back to F-707.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091125\/CIMG0776.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0776.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>And here is the rib that runs vertically behind F-706.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091125\/CIMG0777.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0777.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>Here are how all of the pieces fit together. \u00a0The reason there is so much structure near the bottom of this bulkhead is that there is a bellcrank mounted here that connects\u00a0the forward elevator pushrod (from the control sticks) to the rear elevator pushrod (to the elevator horns). \u00a0All of this is now match drilled.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091125\/CIMG0778.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0778.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>Here is a closeup of this area. \u00a0The forward elevator pushrod passes through the hole visible here. \u00a0The bellcrank mounts between the two ribs near the top of the picture.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091125\/CIMG0779.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0779.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>I also fabricated the straps that attach the horizontal stabilizer to the F-711 bulkhead. \u00a0Near the bottom you can see a taper cut into these to clear the side skin of the fuselage.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091125\/CIMG0780.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0780.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>These are positioned against the front side of F-711 such that the bottom hole is 5\/8&#8243; up from the bottom edge and the top edge is 3 19\/32&#8243; from the top of the bulkhead.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091125\/CIMG0781.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0781.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>These are then back-drilled through the bulkhead.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091125\/CIMG0782.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0782.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>I drilled a series of eight holes along the inside edge of the F-708 bulkhead to attach the static tubing. \u00a0I also drilled holes in F-706 and F-707 (the two bulkheads forward of this one to pass the static tubing up to the front part of the fuselage. \u00a0There are also rudder cable holes in almost all of the bulkheads that require opening to 5\/8&#8243; \u00a0With this, I think I am done with all of the drilling for the bulkheads (for now at least). \u00a0Everything can be disassembled, deburred, dimpled and primed in preparation for riveting.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20091125\/CIMG0783.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG0783.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had the day off work, so my buddy Andre dropped by and we got started on the F-706 bulkhead. \u00a0First up is to drill some 0.063&#8243; angle to a couple of support ribs. \u00a0Here is the rib that goes from the back of F-706 back to F-707.
