{"id":1063,"date":"2010-01-24T17:14:49","date_gmt":"2010-01-24T17:14:49","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-14T19:05:14","modified_gmt":"2017-12-14T19:05:14","slug":"disassembled-fuselage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2010\/01\/24\/disassembled-fuselage\/","title":{"rendered":"Disassembled Fuselage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I got started today by finishing up the remaining drilling that needed to be done before disassembling the fuselage. \u00a0First up is to match drill the outboard seat ribs to the side skins.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100124\/CIMG1087.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1087.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I also drilled the lower longeron to the side and bottom skins as well as the gear web and lower engine mount.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100124\/CIMG1088.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1088.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Two holes on the bottom skin just aft of the firewall need to be enlarged to 7\/16&#8243; for the fuel vents.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100124\/CIMG1089.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1089.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Andre took a picture of me drilling the other one.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100124\/CIMG1090.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1090.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>After drilling the side skins to all of the various bulkheads and drilling the center section bottom skin to the tailcone, we started disassembly.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100124\/CIMG1091.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1091.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the growing pile of parts from the disassembly. \u00a0My cleco tote is overflowing with clecos again.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100124\/CIMG1092.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1092.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Finally, we separated the center section from the tailcone.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100124\/CIMG1093.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1093.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The tailcone is all that is left on the sawhorses.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100124\/CIMG1094.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1094.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I next started working my way through a small list of tasks left to complete before priming. \u00a0Here, I&#8217;ve riveted K1000-08 nutplates to the outboard side of the lower engine mount gussets. \u00a0These will be used to anchor the vent line.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100124\/CIMG1096.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1096.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>While deburring one of the skin stiffeners, I noticed this crack. \u00a0I&#8217;ll call Van&#8217;s tomorrow and get another one sent. \u00a0Hopefully, I can just use this one to match drill the new one so that I don&#8217;t have to reassemble the fuselage to drill it.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100124\/CIMG1097.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1097.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a shot from a slightly different angle. \u00a0The crack goes all the way through and is visible from the inside as well.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100124\/CIMG1100.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1100.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I made it through a good chunk of the small parts before calling it a night. \u00a0All of the pieces on the left are deburred and dimpled\/countersunk. \u00a0I should be able to get through the remaining pieces on the right in one more session. \u00a0I&#8217;ll still have the longerons to countersink (over 400 holes), and a number of holes in the tailcone and center section to debur\/dimple.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100125\/CIMG1101.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1101.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I got started today by finishing up the remaining drilling that needed to be done before disassembling the fuselage. \u00a0First up is to match drill the outboard seat ribs to the side skins.
