{"id":1045,"date":"2010-02-18T17:14:49","date_gmt":"2010-02-18T17:14:49","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-04T06:30:30","modified_gmt":"2017-12-04T06:30:30","slug":"more-forward-fuselage-prep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2010\/02\/18\/more-forward-fuselage-prep\/","title":{"rendered":"More Forward Fuselage Prep"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The hole right below where the forward fuel tank attach bracket needs to be drilled and countersunk for a #10 screw. \u00a0I drilled this out to 3\/16&#8243; and then used the #10 countersink cutter to countersink through the sandwich of the side skin, bottom skin, and lower longeron.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100218\/CIMG1172.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1172.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Here you can see that the screw will sit perfectly flush after install.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100218\/CIMG1173.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1173.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I removed all of the forward clecos and pried the side and bottom skins away from the firewall in preparation for applying the sealant. \u00a0I also scuffed all of the mating surfaces. \u00a0The mixing ratio is too precise for me to use the scale I have (only accurate to 1g), so I&#8217;m going to need to track down a more accurate scale before I can mix the sealant.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100218\/CIMG1174.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1174.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I used a couple of these stubby #40 clecos to keep the side skins spaced away from the firewall.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100218\/CIMG1175.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1175.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I also installed the AN3-10A bolts through the rear spar and spacer blocks. \u00a0Getting these spacer blocks in was more of a pain than I would have expected. \u00a0It was also tough to get a torque wrench on the nuts on the other side. \u00a0I ended up having to use a crow-foot wrench on the end of my torque wrench to get them.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100218\/CIMG1179.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1179.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The hole right below where the forward fuel tank attach bracket needs to be drilled and countersunk for a #10 screw. \u00a0I drilled this out to 3\/16&#8243; and then used the #10 countersink cutter to countersink through the sandwich of the side skin, bottom skin, and lower longeron.
