{"id":1024,"date":"2010-03-17T17:14:48","date_gmt":"2010-03-17T17:14:48","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-04T07:00:20","modified_gmt":"2017-12-04T07:00:20","slug":"attached-seat-bottom-hinges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2010\/03\/17\/attached-seat-bottom-hinges\/","title":{"rendered":"Attached Seat Bottom Hinges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The seat backs attach to the seat bottoms with sections of P3 hinge material. \u00a0There are three pieces of hinge attached to the seat bottom, and one piece attached to the seat back. \u00a0That along with the adjustment mechanism at the top gives you a number of choices for the seat position. \u00a0First up, I cut eight pieces of hinge material 15.5&#8243; long.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100317\/CIMG1287.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1287.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The six hinge pieces that attach to the seat bottom need the center two eyelets removed so that the hinge pins can be inserted from the middle.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100317\/CIMG1288.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1288.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The holes were laid out and drilled on one of the pieces according to the plans. \u00a0This was then used as a template to drill the other five pieces of hinge.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100317\/CIMG1289.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1289.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The hinges were then clamped to the seat bottoms at the position specified by the plans.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100317\/CIMG1290.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1290.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The seat bottoms were then match drilled to the hinges.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100317\/CIMG1291.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1291.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The aft hinge overlaps several holes that are used to attach the seat bottoms to the seat ribs. \u00a0The hinge is back drilled to these holes so that all three pieces can be blind riveted together.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100317\/CIMG1292.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1292.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The hinge pieces are then riveted to the seat bottom with AN470AD4-4 rivets (skipping the holes that will also rivet in conjunction with the seat ribs). \u00a0I&#8217;ve seen a few builders use LP4-3 here, but the plans only specify those for attaching the seat bottoms to the seat ribs.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100317\/CIMG1293.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1293.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The seat backs attach to the seat bottoms with sections of P3 hinge material. \u00a0There are three pieces of hinge attached to the seat bottom, and one piece attached to the seat back. \u00a0That along with the adjustment mechanism at the top gives you a number of choices for the seat position. \u00a0First up, I &hellip;
