{"id":1006,"date":"2010-04-07T17:14:48","date_gmt":"2010-04-07T17:14:48","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-12-04T16:27:59","modified_gmt":"2017-12-04T16:27:59","slug":"finished-center-subpanel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/2010\/04\/07\/finished-center-subpanel\/","title":{"rendered":"Finished Center Subpanel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I laid out and drilled the holes that attach the forward engine control bracket to the center subpanel. \u00a0The throttle, prop and mixture control cable housings are anchored here.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100407\/CIMG1373.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1373.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>The top edge has a seal support angle mounted 1\/8&#8243; below the top flange. \u00a0This will hold a piece of weatherstripping that will seal the forward edge of the canopy. \u00a0I first laid out the holes according to the plans and used the rivet fan to drill them to #40. \u00a0To position it, I clamped a flexible aluminum ruler to the forward flange and then clamped the seal support angle to that with some 1\/8&#8243; spacers between them. \u00a0I then match drilled the subpanel and then opened the holes up to #30.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100407\/CIMG1374.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1374.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>The seal support angle and engine control bracket are then riveted to the center subpanel. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t prime these parts because these will be visible when the canopy is opened, so I want to paint it with my interior color. \u00a0Since there is a lot of work in the upper forward canopy over the next 6 months or so, I&#8217;m going to hold off on painting this to avoid scratching it up.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100407\/CIMG1375.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1375.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center>I also riveted on the F-644-L\/R forward fuselage channels. \u00a0These require flush rivets on the outside faces because the canopy hinge bracket rubs against an UHMW plastic block mounted here. \u00a0The plans also show the support seal cut off flush with the channel, but the plastic block is 1\/8&#8243; thick, so I left the support angle a little long.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/rv7pictures\/Originals\/20100407\/CIMG1376.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonbeaver.com\/rv7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CIMG1376.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I laid out and drilled the holes that attach the forward engine control bracket to the center subpanel. \u00a0The throttle, prop and mixture control cable housings are anchored here.
